Session Description: This session will highlight red flags that herald vision and life-threatening neuro-ophthalmic problems often mistaken for other neurological diagnoses in the emergency room. Key aspects of the history and important clinical signs from the examination will be discussed in a case-based format. Urgent management strategies that optimize visual and overall patient outcomes will be presented.Learning Objectives: 1. To discuss “red flags” that herald a potentially life-threatening cause of headache and vision loss2. To review clinical features of fulminant IIH and discuss emergent strategies to prevent blindness3. To identify optic neuritis subtypes associated with uncommon central nervous system inflammatory syndromes and outline acute management strategies to prevent vision loss and other serious neurologic disability
