Abstract
Abstract Body
Microglia, the brain's resident macrophages and major immune cell population, play important roles in brain development and homeostasis. Therefore, a loss or change in microglial function can lead to severe disturbance of brain health, resulting in neurological disease. In this presentation, major functions of microglia and their relationship with neurological diseases will be discussed, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease and our recent appreciation of the role of microglial reprogramming in driving Alzheimer's disease pathology.
