Mario Cazzola is an Honorary Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’, Rome, Italy, where he was Full Professor of Respiratory Medicine and at the Sackler Institute of Pulmonary Pharmacology, GKT School of Biomedical Sciences, London, UK. His research has mainly be focused on pharmacology of airway diseases, particularly use of bronchodilators and on obstructive lung diseases. He is the author or co-author of almost 670 scientific papers. His H-index is 70. According to Expertscape (November 2021), he is the top-rated expert in COPD, in obstructive lung diseases, and in bronchodilator agents in the world during the years 2011-2021. He serves as the Deputy Editor for Respiratory Medicine, Section Editor for Frontiers in Drug Safety and Regulation, and an Associate Editor for Respiratory Research, He is a Fellow of the ACCP and ERS and has received the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award from ERS. He was a member of the steering committee of the Airway Disorders Network and was serving as Governor of the Italian Chapter at the ACCP.
