Julie G. Pilitsis MD, PhD, MBA is Dean and Vice President of Medical Affairs at FAU Schmidt College of Medicine. She maintains a busy functional neurosurgery practice while serving in this role. Dr. Pilitsis developed new service lines at multiple institutions and served as the Chair of the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Albany Medical College, making her one of five female neurosurgeons to chair a department. Dr. Pilitsis is a successful physician scientist and acts as a national leader across multiple organizations including North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) which has 2000 members. Over the course of her career, she has mentored over 150 students through translational research projects and has published 200 articles. She acts as a specialty editor for the journal: Frontiers in Pain Research: Neuromodulatory Interventions, and has been recognized with Pain Paper of the Year by Neurosurgery for 3 past years. Dr. Pilitsis maintains significant DEI initiatives, and completed an MBA with concentration in bioinformatics in December 2021.
