Consuelo Almazán is Doctor in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics by the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT), master’s in science, with specialization in Veterinary parasitology by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and PhD by Oklahoma State University (OSU). Her academic experience includes teaching and research assistant at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, OSU; Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine UAT, and Research associate at the UMR BIPAR (INRAE, Anses, EnvA), Maisons-Alfort, Fr. She has served as committee member of graduate students at UAT, UNAM, University Antonio Narro, Autonomous University of Queretaro (UAQ), and University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), Spain. Currently, she is Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, UAQ, external advisor of the graduate program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UNAM. She is Committee member for Certification in Veterinary Parasitology, from the National Council of Certification (Concervet), and Committee member of the Parasitology and Parasiticides group from the National Council of Animal Health (CONASA). She belongs to the Mexican Academy of Veterinary Medicine (AVM) since 2017. Her studies are focused on vectors and vector-borne pathogens affecting humans and animals and her research interests include Control of ectoparasites, Anti-arthropod vaccines, Vector-borne pathogens, Prevention and control of animal diseases, Emerging diseases, and One health.
