Mats Eriksson is a Professor and Specialist Nurse in intensive care. His research area concerns children and adolescents. He is the leader of the international research group PEARL – Pain in Early Life, studying stress and pain in newborns and he is one of the principal investigators of the EU FP7-supported EUROPAIN -project studying pain management for critically ill newborns in 18 European countries. He is also one of the leaders of the LISAN-research group: Life situation for children and adolescents with narcolepsy. Other national and international collaborative research groups and projects concern psychosomatic health in adolescents, support for breast-feeding mothers of pre-term infants, post-operative recovery among children and different aspects of skin-to-skin care / Kangaroo Mother Care. He collaborates with researchers in USA, Brazil, France, United Kingdom and many other countries. Mats Eriksson is supervising five PhD-students as main supervisor and four as assistant supervisor. He has assignments as faculty opponent, reviewer and also as editorial advisory board member for Nursing Children and Young People. He is a scientific advisor at National Board of Health and Welfare in Sweden.
