Else-Kröner-Fresenius-Zentrum (EKFZ) for Nutritional Medicine, Paediatric Nutritional Medicine
Heiko Witt was born in Berlin in 1966. He studied in Kiel, Berlin and Freiburg. He received his training in paediatric gastroenterology at the Charité in Berlin under supervision of Michael Becker. Since 2008, he is professor at Else Kröner-Fresenius-Zentrum (EKFZ) for Nutritional Medicine at the Technical University Munich (TUM). His research focus is genetics of paediatric pancreatic disorders. He contributed significantly to the understanding of chronic pancreatitis by identification of several disease genes such as SPINK1, CTRC, CPA1 and TRPV6. He gave more than 100 invited presentations at national and international meetings. He was editorial board member of the JPGN. He was the ESPGHAN delegate of the WG "Pancreatic Diseases" for the World Congress in Paris, President of the German Pancreas Club (DPC), Council member of the European Pancreas Club (EPC), 2017 President of the Gesellschaft für Pädiatrische Gastroenterologie und Ernährung (GPGE). Currently, he is President of the EPC.
