I started my clinical activity as pediatric surgeon and pediatric endoscopist since 1978 at Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital, after training in adult endoscopy and digestive surgery. My mentor was Samy Cadranel that changed my perspective from the only surgical point of view in an integrated gastroenterological-endoscopic-surgical one. In 2000 we organized the Digestive and Endoscopy Unit where pediatric gastroenterologists and surgeons together, in the same Unit, can take care of children with digestive diseases from diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and to the transition. My special interest was for digestive surgery and therapeutic endoscopy with special attention for ERCP and esophageal disease. In 2019 we organized the 5° INoEA, the World conference of Esophageal Atresia with more than seven hundred delegates. We organized, since 2014 the International Workshop of Pediatric Digestive Therapeutic Endoscopy, this year at the fifth edition, where the delegates can assist, without filters, to endoscopic therapeutic procedures during the live sessions.
