Dr. Erasmo Miele is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Department of Translational Medical Science, Section of Pediatrics, University of Naples “Federico II”, Italy. Prof. Miele graduated from Medical School in 1994 and postgraduated in Paediatrics in 2000 at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. In the year 2000 prof. Miele continued his education in endoscopy and motility at “Clinique de Gastroenterologic-Hépatologie de l’ Hopital Universitaire des Enfants Reine Fabiola”, Bruxelles (Belgium) under the supervision of prof. Samy Cadranel. In the 2003 he was a postdoc fellow of prof. Baldassano at the Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Children Hospital of Philadelphia, The University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, Philadelphia. In 2003, prof. Miele obtained a PhD in Pediatric Science at the University of Naples “Federico II”. Paediatric inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal motility are the topics of the majority of studies and scientific projects in which prof Miele took an active participation or a leading role. Moreover, prof. Miele is a co-author in several guidelines, such as the management of Crohn’s Disease, guidelines on endoscopy in paediatric IBD, and the position paper on nutrition in paediatric IBD. Prof. Miele is an ESPGHAN member since 2001, and currently is member of the Gastroenterology Committee and of the Paediatric IBD Porto Group.
