Karin Ludwig is an immunology clinical nurse specialist based in South Africa. She studied nursing at the University of Pretoria and spent most of her early years working in the Cardiothoracic ICU Department and Trauma Unit at Unitas Hospital. She also has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, where she was specifically involved with pain management. Karin currently has her own private clinic and focusses on primary healthcare and immune deficiencies with a particular focus on and passion for the subcutaneous use of immunoglobulins and the practical management and administration thereof. Karin is the Secretary for the International Nursing Group for Immunodeficiencies (INGID; board member since 2014). She has presented several international and local talks on the subject matter and loves to share her practical experiences and training. She also formed part of the international panel of experts that developed an e-learning course on immunoglobulin therapy, accredited by the International Council of Nurses (ICN). She is currently involved with the development of Master Classes for Clinical Immunology Nursing for South Africa. She is also involved in the development of an educational video for the University of Cape Town on SCIG therapy.
