Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist
Dr Lucinda Green developed and led the perinatal mental health service at St. Thomas’ Hospital (South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust) from 2002 to 2016. She was then Perinatal Clinical Lead for West London NHS Trust from 2016 to 2018. Since 2018 she has worked as a Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist in the independent sector. Dr Green has many years’ experience of designing and delivering perinatal mental health training for a range of professionals. She has been a clinical supervisor for senior trainees and a mentor for consultant perinatal psychiatrists. She is currently Joint Clinical Lead for the HEE funded perinatal masterclass programme at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She is a Visiting Lecturer at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust where she has designed and delivered face-to-face and on-line perinatal mental health courses for a range of healthcare professionals. For the Pan London Perinatal Mental Health Network Dr Green has been chair of both the South and North West London Perinatal Mental Health Clinical Networks. She was joint lead for the London Perinatal Mental Health Care Pathway and lead for the Pan London Perinatal Mental Health Network’s Perinatal Pre-Birth Planning Best Practice Toolkit. She was a member of the British Association for Psychopharmacology Perinatal Guideline Development Group. She has been an elected member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Faculty and was the lead for the development of a series of perinatal information leaflets for the RCPsych. She is a former chair of the London & South Perinatal Consultant Psychiatrists Association.

Session Description
Organised by the EPA Section on Women, Gender and Mental Health. 1. Schizophrenia and women. What do we need to know and do to improve outcome for women? This presentation will look at the gender differences, lifespan course, risk assessment and care needs for women with schizophrenia. Dr Liz McDonald 2. Women with severe mental disorders: sexual health, fertility and planning for pregnancy and parenthood. This presentation will address the specific needs of women in relation to their fertility and how clinicians and services can best support women to ensure optimal outcome. Dr Lucinda Green. 3. Violence against women and mental health. This presentation will consider the many implications for mental health outcomes and services, of violence against women. Dr Hind Khalifeh. 4. Mental Health and Parenting. This presentation addresses risk factors and uses case examples to explore links between mental disorders and the barriers and challenges in relation to child safeguarding. Dr Lucinda Green.
