Walter Ageno is Professor of Medicine at the University of Insubria, Director of the Residency Programme in Emergency Medicine and Director of the Emergency Medicine Unit and the Thrombosis Center of the Ospedale di Circolo of Varese, Italy. He has authored more than 650 articles indexed in MEDLINE in the fields of venous and arterial thrombosis. Dr. Ageno was chairman of the Italian Society of Hemostasis and Thrombosis and of the Scientific Subcommittee Board of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He is deputy editor for Thrombosis and Haemostasis, associate editor for the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and Internal and Emergency Medicine.

Giancarlo Agnelli is Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Perugia and Head of Research at the Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri - IRCCS, Pavia, Italy Professor Agnelli is the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Internal Medicine and National Coordinator of the Italian post-graduated program in Emergency Medicine. Professor Agnelli's research focuses on clinical trials on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, including the development of new anticoagulant agents. He is also involved in clinical trials on the prevention and treatment of cancer-associated thrombosis. Professor Agnelli has authored more than 640 publications (www. pubmed.com). Amy Ahern is a Principal Research Associate and Programme Leader for the Prevention of Diabetes and Related Metabolic Disorders in High Risk Groups in the MRC Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of interventions to prevent and treat obesity and diabetes, with an emphasis on translating understanding of the psychology of eating behaviour and weight management into scalable cost-effective interventions that have sustained effects on behaviour and improve mental and physical health. Amy leads a portfolio of experimental, observational, and qualitative studies, including large randomised controlled trials with long-term follow up. Before joining the University of Cambridge, Amy completed a PhD in Psychology at the University of Liverpool in 2008 and postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford Centre for Research on Eating Disorders (2008-2009) and the MRC Human Nutrition Research Unit (2009-2016).
