Professor Alberto Corsini is a Full Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacology and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Milan in Italy. Professor Corsini graduated in pharmacy from the University of Milan magna cum laude in 1981. He was awarded a PhD in experimental pharmacology in 1983 from the University of Milan and his second PhD in experimental medicine and atherosclerosis in 1990 from the University of Siena. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Gladstone Research Institute for Cardiovascular Disease in San Francisco, University of California (1986-1987) and he was a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Biochemistry/Pathology at the University of Washington, Seattle (1993-1999). His main interest in research is dealing, with the problems of atherogenesis and their pharmacological control. His research interests include the pharmacological properties of statins and hypolipidaemic agents in the management of cardiovascular/vascular disease and atherosclerosis. He has been the beneficiary of several honours, scholarships and fellowships. He has authored or co-authored more than 275 publications including experimental and clinical papers, reviews and book chapters, with more than 13000 citations and h-index 50 and has delivered over 250 invited lectures.
