Jan Borén (Sweden)
University of Gothenburg Institute of MedicineJan Borén, MD, PhD is Professor and Head of Institute of Medicine, Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg. His main long-term interest has been lipid and lipoprotein metabolic research and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms that lead to, and consequences of, lipid accumulation in the liver, arterial wall and heart, with the goal of translating this knowledge into effective treatment. His research program is translational and involves both in vitro and in vivo studies, including pathophysiological studies and mouse models, and kinetic studies with stable isotopes in humans. Dr. Borén’s achievements have been recognized by several honours and awards. He has been actively involved in activities of EAS and has served on the Society's Executive Committee as Treasurer and as Vice-President.
