Dr. Baumgartner is member of the Physiology of Human Nutrition (PhuN) research group at the Department of Nutrition and Movement Sciences at Maastricht University. She defended her Ph.D. thesis entitled: ‘Effects of plant sterol and stanol esters on oxyphytosterol concentrations and postprandial metabolism’ in February 2015. Hereafter, she was appointed as post-doc and since January 2018, she works as an Assistant Professor. She performed placebo-controlled nutritional intervention studies in the field of nutrition, functional foods, lipid and (chole)sterol metabolism. Currently, she is involved in both research and education focusing on liver health and lipid metabolism in humans.
