Effective and efficient clinical research is a major goal of current clinical practice. This goal requires both a cadre of knowledgeable clinical practitioners and an infrastructure that provides streamlined processes for doing research in the setting of a busy neonatal practices. Differences in neonatal practices across various hospitals, contries and continents are also important to ensure scientific validitity but provide additional challenges. An effective research network may collaborate with federal, academic medical center, and international partners, as well as patient advocacy groups, to develop and implement highly relevant research programs by experienced and committed physicians.
