Dr. Churilov Leonid Pavlovich M.D., Ph.D. (born 10 June 1956) Chairman of Pathology Dept, Faculty of Medicine, Deputy-Chief of the Laboratory of Mosaic of Autoimmunity, St. Petersburg State University, Leading Researcher at the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology. Full Member of International Academy of Sciences (Health and Ecology), Corresponding Member of International Higher School Academy of Sciences. Author of Textbook of Pathophysiology in 3 volumes (6 editions in 20 years in Russia), also published over 30 monographs and manuals in Pathophysiology, Immunology and Endocrinology, Shock and Stress studies and circa 700 other academic papers. Member of International Society for Pathophysiology (ISP), Member of St. Petersburg Scientific Society for the History of Medicine, laureate of ISP2006 Peking Congress Award for best presentation, winner of II All-Union competition on the best research in Pathophysiology, co-editor of Russian edition of “Diabetes A to Z” Encyclopedia of the American Medical Association. Co-author of the first in Russia bilingual electronic manual in Immunology and Immunopathology, scientific editor of Manual in Military Field Surgery, author of books in obesity, adolescent endocrinology, history of medicine and disorders of connective tissue. The trends of his research activities: Immunopathology, autoimmunity and immunoglobulin-mediated regulation of gene expression, Endocrinology (especially, autoimmune endocrine disorders, thyroid pathology and early metabolic syndrome), systemic approach in Pathophysiology, Biothermodynamics, History of Medicine, Medical Ecology, and Gerontology. L.P. Churilov published several papers in innovative interdisciplinary teaching of Pathophysiology intermingled with other medical disciplines. He was a co-developer and Dean of the first English medium M.D. Program in the history of Russian Medical School, for this contribution, he was awarded the honorable diploma of the Senate of State of New York. He was a participant of medical ecological expeditions into areas contaminated after Chernobyl disaster and other nuclear accidents, scientific consultant of documentary film «Och stjarnans namn var Malort» (Malmerfilm production, Sweden) about medical sequels of nuclear disasters. Laureate of St. Petersburg University Prize of 2012 “For teaching skills”. Certificates of honors: from Russian Federal Ministry of Education and Science “for long successful teaching and research career” (2009), from St. Petersburg State University “for scientific contribution” (2006), “for teaching skills” (2004, 2005), “for outstanding contribution in international academic relations” (2008), from Saint Petersburg Spiritual Academy (2015), from the Government of Yemen (2018). Awarded with M.V. Lomonosov Medal for contribution into medical ecology and E.Y. Shwartz Medal for contribution into molecular medicine; visiting professorship of Harbin Medical University (2008, 2012. 2014, 2017), visiting professorship at 4th Chinese Military Medical University of Xian (2009), University of Sichuan (2015, 2016), Jinan University (2013, 2015), University of Zagreb, Croatia (2016). According RISC (Russian Index of Scientific Citation) L.P. Churilov is one of most cited medical scientists of St. Petersburg. Editorial board member in 8 peer-reviewed scientific journals, including "Autoimmunity Reviews". Co-editor of “Clinical Pathophysiology”.
