Dr Torben Biester from Hannover, Germany, is a physician for emergency care and pediatric diabetology. He received his pediatric training at the Hospital for Children and Adolescents AUF DER BULT in Hannover and joined the team of the largest pediatric diabetes center in Germany led by Prof Olga Kordonouri and Prof Thomas Danne. Besides his pediatric clinics and research, he also provides emergency rescue service. In the multinational DREAM consortium, he worked with teams from Israel and Slovenia on development of an MD-logic AID system. Besides research in automated insulin delivery, he published results on new insulins, register studies from the DPV and the use of SGLT2-inhibitors in adolescents with T1D. He took part in ATTD consensus meetings on Time in Range, Digital Health care and AID treatment recommendations. In 2014, he participated in ISPAD science school at Joslin Center in Boston and is member of ISPAD Jenious young researchers’ group. In 2021 he was awarded with the ISPAD young researcher award. Since 2021 he is a faculty member of Hannover Medical school.
