Sara Hartnell is Lead Diabetes Specialist Dietitian & Insulin pump educator working within the Nutrition and Dietetics Department and the Institute of Metabolic Sciences Wolfson Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic (IMS-WDEC) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She manages a team of over 20 dietitians covering Adult Metabolics, Obesity, Diabetes, Endocrinology and Cardiology. Sara has a special interest in Type 1 diabetes, with a specific focus in intensified management including structured education and use of new technology; insulin pumps, CGMS and automated insulin delivery Sara and her team support various academic and commercial diabetes related research projects within department including Professor Hovorka’s Closed Loop research. Sara is a member of the Diabetes Technology Network committee and a director of a small limited company (ASK Diabetes Ltd) which provides diabetes education to Health Care Professionals and consultancy to CamDiab Ltd.
