He made seminal contributions to diabetes technology including the “Artificial Pancreas”, a device that delivers insulin in glucose responsive fashion. He is Chief Investigator on several trials evaluating the Artificial Pancreas in populations such as young children and newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. His wider interests include mathematical modelling of glucose control and turnover.
