NataĊĦa Bratina is working at the University Childrens hospital in Ljubljana, Department of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolic disorders, Slovenia. She works with children and adolescents having diabetes for the last 3 decades . She is organising a summer camp for children with diabetes for more than 25 years. With her medical team a precise step by step education program was developed, with several publications supporting it. For more than 15 years caregivers and teachers from all over Slovenia are educated about diabetes so they can help and support even the youngest children in kindergarden and school. Every year more than 350 caregivers visit this program. Psychological support is the next field of research in UCH, in the last years focusing on a special psychological screening program for children with type 1 diabetes above the age of 10 and their parents discovering problems such as fear of hypoglycaemia, eating disorders etc. at an early phase.
