Ophthalmology
Dr. Lee is a Professor and the Klorfine Family Endowed Chair in the Department of Ophthalmology at University of Washington. She is a clinical epidemiologist and medical retina/uveitis specialist and serves as the Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Ophthalmology. Her research interests include “Big Data” research involving electronic medical records and non-invasive imaging datasets in the retina using machine learning approaches. Dr. Lee is passionate about investigating the relationship between aging eyes and aging brains to better understand neurodegenerative pathologies such as age-related macular degeneration and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Lee has several NIH and other foundation-funded research. She leads a large, multicenter, multidomain study related to an ongoing prospective cohort to study the relationship between aging eyes and aging brains in the Adult Changes in Thought (ACT) cohort called "Eye ACT" study. Dr. Lee also serves as the program director of AI-READI consortium aimed to create a multidimensional, ethically-sourced dataset in diverse people for studying salutogenesis in Type II Diabetes.
