Johannes Streffer (MD) is Chief medical Officer of AC Immune and visiting professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Antwerp. Johannes has joined AC Immune SA in early 2020 as Chief Medical Officer from UCB Biopharma SPRL where he was VP, Head of Translational Medicine Neuroscience. Prior to this he was a member of the Alzheimer Disease Area Leadership Team at Janssen R&D. Johannes has been EFPIA lead for EMIF-AD, part of the IMI-EMIF (56 partners; 14 European countries represented; 56MM € worth of resources; “3 projects in one”), that integrated a wide variety of AD data cohorts, biomarker rich single center cohorts to EHRs, to foster the understanding of early markers and change in the predementia AD spectrum. Johannes earned his Medical Degree from the University of Tubingen, Germany in 1994. He is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. In his early career, he conducted basic research in neuro-oncology as well as coordinating clinical research activities with a neuro-oncologic focus in the neurologic university hospital in Tubingen. He received if psychiatric training and introduction in neurodegeneration research in department of psychiatry research at the psychiatric university hospital Zurich. Main activities were coordination of the geronto-psychatric outpatient and specialized memory clinic as a consultant; Clinical research activities, focusing on early experimental AD trials, including biomarker modalities as PET, volumetric and functional MRI, genetics, cognition and CSF markers.
