Prof. Paulo Caramelli has extensive experience in neurology practice and research with expertise in the aging brain, cognitive impairments, and dementia. He obtained his MD, residency, and PhD at University of São Paulo (USP) School of Medicine. He is currently a Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and Coordinator of the Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology Research Group. He is a permanent advisor for several graduate programs at UFMG and has supervised dozens of students. Prof. Caramelli has held senior research positions at the National Research Council (CNPq), Brazil, and serves on the CNPq, CAPES, and FAPESP advisory boards. He was a member of the group that advised the World Health Organization on revisions to neurocognitive disorders in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11). He is Editor-in-chief of the Archives of NeuroPsychiatry and Associate Editor of the American Journal of Neurodegenerative Disease, eNeurologicalSci, and Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Neurology and Neurological Sciences. He has published 281 articles, 72 book chapters and has edited six books.
