Pfizer Collegeville
Mary M. Moran, MD, is Pfizer’s North America Medical and Scientific Affairs Lead for mRNA Vaccines. She is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr Moran joined Pfizer 3 years ago after a gratifying career in academic pediatrics. For the three years prior to joining Pfizer, she was chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine and pediatrician-in-chief at St. Christopher’s Hospital, where she led her physician group in providing high-quality care to the children of North Philadelphia and the surrounding region. Initially at Pfizer, Dr Moran provided medical support for Prevnar and Trumenba. Subsequently, in her role as Senior Director of the Vaccines Pipeline, Mary began to lay the groundwork for ACIP recommendations for Pfizer’s pipeline vaccines. With the pandemic and Pfizer’s decision to move forward with the COVID-19 vaccine clinical development program, much of her efforts were redirected at helping to ensure Emergency Use Authorization in the US. As part of that, she spearheaded medical outreach to front-line immunizers in partnership with the CDC to facilitate successful implementation at vaccination sites. The US Pfizer Medical Team has trained over 45,000 vaccinators as part of these efforts. At Pfizer, Dr Moran aims to combine her past “front-line,” evidence-based clinical experience with the opportunity to reach a broader audience and to provide the highest quality of care and education for all.
