Global Pediatric Medicine
Dr. Mukkada is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist who is an Assistant Member in the Departments of Global Pediatric Medicine and Infectious Diseases at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She obtained her BA at Brown University and MD at the University of Cincinnati. After working for the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics on feasibility and implementation trials of novel tuberculosis diagnostics in Kampala, Uganda, she did her pediatric residency training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She completed fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital/University of Tennessee program and obtained her MPH from the University of Memphis. Her primary research focus is the development and evaluation of resource appropriate strategies for diagnosing and treating infection in pediatric oncology patients. As part of this work, she leads grant-funded projects in antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic stewardship in collaboration with global partners.
