Suvarna Alladi is Professor of Neurology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore, India. Dr Alladi was a Commonwealth research fellow in cognitive and behavioural neurology at Cambridge UK in 2004. She focuses on investigating complex influence of life-course experiences especially education, bilingualism and social engagement from childhood to old age understand development of risk and resilience against cognitive impairment. In the background of a rapidly rising burden of dementia, creating awareness and organising community support for dementias became a focus of the NGO she co-founded (www.ardsihyd.org). Dr Alladi also represents priorities of less-developed societies in international platforms and meetings and is Chair and member of several national and international advisory boards for brain health.
