Arlene Wilkie SAFE Director General Arlene has worked for SAFE as Director General since 2019. She has experience from a variety of organisations and roles over the last twenty years in the healthcare sector, primarily in patient and research focused not for profit organisations in the UK. These include Director of Research and Policy at Breast Cancer Campaign (now known as Breast Cancer Now), Chief Executive of the Neurological Alliance (a membership organisation of 70 neurological organisations in England), Chief Executive of The Migraine Trust, and Interim Director of Services and Influencing at the Brain Tumour Charity UK. In her role with SAFE, Arlene works closely with the board members to deliver SAFE’s strategy and ensure the sustainability and growth of SAFE. In addition, Arlene works closely with SAFE’s stroke support organisations to fully understand the needs of stroke survivors to ensure that these are highlighted at the EU and national level, as well through SAFE specific projects. Arlene also co-chairs the implementation committee of the Stroke Action Plan for Europe and is a board member of the World Stroke Organisation.
