Professor IkeOluwa Lagunju FMCPaed, FWACP, FRCPCH, MD Professor IkeOluwa Lagunju is a Professor of Paediatrics at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. She graduated as the top student in her class in 1988 with several awards. She is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, the West African College of Physicians and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She also holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Prof Lagunju received the ACU Fulton Fellowship in 2005, the Bernard D’Souza Award of the Child Neurology Society, USA in 2008, the Bruce Schoenberg Award of the American Academy of Neurology in 2011. She pioneered the work on Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasonography for primary stroke prevention in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) in Nigeria. Her work on stroke prevention has resulted in a drastic reduction in the burden of childhood stroke in Nigeria. She has nearly 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has made presentations at a number of international conferences. She is the current President of the Child Neurology Society of Nigeria (CNSN).
