I am a Stroke Survivor Ambassador in Stroke Action Nigeria. Stroke Action is the first Stroke Support Organization in Nigeria, established in 2012. I am based at the Life After Stroke Centre in Onitsha Anambra State where I work with other stroke survivors and we offer Befriending, Group Exercise and Psychosocial Support. Before I had a Stroke, I was a civil Servant working in Portharcourt Rivers State, Nigeria. Since becoming unemployed after stroke, I returned to my home town Onitsha, Anambra State to live with my family. I joined stroke action to receive functional rehabilitation and exercise training after stroke. My recovery is still ongoing, and I am trying to live my life and be up again after stroke. Becoming a Stroke Survivor Ambassador is part of this process of coping with life after a stroke.
