After graduation Claudia Reusch worked in private small animal clinics in Germany for several years before moving to the University of Munich, where she became Professor for Small Animal Internal Medicine in 1992. Since 1996, she is the director of the Clinic for Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She is founding member of the European Society of Veterinary Endocrinology (ESVE) and was its president from 2001-2003. From 2003-2006 she was president of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine-Companion Animals (ECVIM-CA). Additionally, she was member of the University Council of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria from 2011-2018 and member of the Scientific Advisory Board from 2013-2018. In 2014 she was given the Bourgelat award by the BSAVA for outstanding international contributions to small animal practice and in 2020 she received the Richard-Völker-Medaille by the German Veterinary Association. In 2016 she was awarded honorary member of the ESVE and in 2019 honorary member of the Society for Comparative Endocrinology (USA). She has published more than 280 scientific articles and 30 book chapters and is co-editor of the textbook “Canine and Feline Endocrinology”. Her research focus is on clinical endocrinology in dogs and cats.
