Dr Nalinika Obeyesekere, a founder and director of Pet Vet clinic and Blue Paw Trust, has always been passionate about animals and their welfare. Dr Nalinikas’ interest and love of animals is wide-ranging. She strives to make lives better for pets and their people by looking at the whole picture; from preventive health to medicine and advice aimed at ensuring a strong bond and companionship. Pioneering the effort to improve the quality of companion animal veterinary medicine in Sri Lanka, she has focused on encouraging continued learning and improved quality. She strives continuously to ensure the next generation of vets are even better. She is the country representative for the Asian Collage of Veterinary surgeons /internal medicine group. Nalinika is a pioneer and founder member of the Society of Companion animal Practitioners and the Sri Lanka Collage of Veterinary surgeons. Nalinika has affiliations with many other local and international professional and animal welfare organizations. As a Sri Lankan veterinarian with a global presence, advocating for higher standards of companion animal veterinary services, minimizing the impacts of zoonotic disease, promoting the importance of understanding animal behaviour, Nalinika leadership is a beacon for improving the health and welfare of companion animals in Sri Lanka and the region.
