Rajiv Tandon, MD, is the Professor and Chairman of Psychiatry at the WMED Homer Stryker College of Medicine in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dr. Tandon has authored more than 400 scientific publications, and given over 1500 national and international scientific presentations. He has received several awards for research and teaching in schizophrenia, including the 2010 and 2016 SIRS (International Schizophrenia Research Society) Senior Researcher of the Year awards for the most cited paper in schizophrenia (2008-10) and the most downloaded paper in schizophrenia (2014-2016). He has received the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance for Mental Illness on three occasions: in 2009, 2012, and 2015. He was a member of the DSM-5 workgroup on schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders and is a member of the World Psychiatry Association Pharmacopsychiatry Section. He is a Past-President of the Florida chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness and a Past-President of the Florida Psychiatric Society. His major areas of clinical and research interest are the neuropharmacology of schizophrenia, differences between typical and atypical antipsychotic agents, dimensions of schizophrenic psychopathology, neuroendocrine and polysomnographic abnormalities in schizophrenia, and the evidence-based treatment of schizophrenia and other major mental disorders.
