In this session, key latin american medical teachers discuss the challenges faced in multiple levels of education and training in psychiatry. These range from undergraduate training in the context of mandatory lockdown, challenges in specialist training and also continuing medical education. Examples are brought from the restructuring of university hospitals, specialized education via streaming, and the elaboration of world reaching education events focused in Latin American population. The speakers also share their experience of articulating epidemiological containment and prevention in psychiatric services at risk of COVID-19 infection, the psychological burden in undergraduate students and residents, and also the strategies employed to cope with it. A special emphasis is made in the implementation of psychiatric training and telemental health, and also propose future directions in Psychiatric training that use the elements acquired from the current COVID-19 pandemic.
