Angelo Auricchio, Switzerland

Educational Background Angelo Auricchio graduated at Medical School in Naples, Italy, in 1985. He received a PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology at University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Italy, 1994. As assistant staff physician, he worked at various prestigious institutions including the University Hospital in Naples (Italy), the University Hospital in Hannover, the University Hospital of Rome Tor Vergata, and in finally the Department of Cardiology in Aaslst (Belgium). Work Experience Angelo Auricchio is Professor of Cardiology at University Hospital in Magdeburg, Germany, Professor at the Biomedical Science Faculty of Università della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland and director of the Clinical Electrophysiology Unit at Fondazione Cardiocentro Ticino, Lugano, Switzerland. He is past President of European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). Moreover, he is co-directing the Center for Computational Medicine in Cardiology at Università della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland. In 2016 he has been awarded a degree honoris causa at Universidad de San Pablo Tucuman, Argentina. Furthermore, he is serving as Scientific Director at the Fondazione Ticino Cuore, an institution devoted to increase public awareness of out-of -hospital cardiac arrest victims and to improve the survival rate of victims of out-of hospital arrest. He is the author of over 70 scientific review articles and book chapters and more than 300 original scientific papers. He has served as a member of the Task Force for European Society of Cardiology Guidelines for Cardiac Pacing and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy.
