Dr. Johnny Huard; Chief Scientific Officer and Director of the Center for Regenerative Sports Medicine at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI) in Vail; Colorado is a world-renowned scientist and the discoverer of Muscle Derived Stem Cells; with 25 years of experience. Before joining SPRI; Dr. Huard held several positions as distinguished Professor; Vice Chair for Research; Director in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas; and University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on basic science and translational medicine for multiple disease conditions including: 1) DMD 2) Bone; Muscle and Cartilage repair/PTOA 3) Healthy Aging 4) Orthobiologics and 5) Stem cell biology. Dr. Huard has authored over 400 manuscripts in various high impact scientific journals including Nature Cell Biology; Nature Biotechnology; Journal of Cell Biology; Journal of Clinical Investigation; Cell Stem Cells; etc. Dr. Huard received over 87 awards including the Orthopaedic Society’s prestigious Kappa Delta Awards (in 2004 & 2018); AOSSM’s prestigious Cabaud memorial award and University of Pittsburgh’s Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Award. Dr. Huard received 47 federal grant awards (NIH; DOD) and recent DOD and NIH RMIP grant award that includes 7-clinical trials. Currently Dr. Huard has nearly 38,700 google scholar citations with 105 h-index.
