Frances Henson graduated from University of Cambridge; UK as a Veterinary Surgeon. Following a PhD in disorders of Endochondral ossification in horses; she undertook specialist equine veterinary training at the University of Cambridge. She was awarded the status of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Specialist in Equine Orthopaedics in 2008. She is Head of the Comparative Musculoskeletal Biology research group and Senior Lecturer in Equine Studies in the Department of Veterinary Medicine; University of Cambridge and a Research Fellow in the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgery; University of Cambridge. Her clinical interests are in in the development of novel therapeutics to treat sports horse orthopaedic injuries and back pathology. Dr Henson’s research interests are in the biology and repair of damaged joint surface defects and therapeutic strategies to treat chondral and osteochondral defects in large and small animals. She is also interested in understanding orthopaedic pain and is currently undertaking novel investigations into large animal orthopaedic pain.
