Martin Englund received his MD in 1998 and PhD in Orthopaedics in 2004; Lund University; Sweden; and a MSc in Epidemiology from Boston University 2007. He is a Professor of Epidemiology and Medical Research and currently heads the Clinical Epidemiology Unit at Department of Orthopaedics; Lund University and Skåne University Hospital; Sweden. Prof Englund’s research portfolio spans from molecular aspects (proteomics) and imaging of osteoarthritis and the meniscus to epidemiology; health economy and burden of joint injury. Prof Englund has published more than 250 peer-reviewed publications which has attracted more than 10,000 citations. He is currently serving as Treasurer of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) and is an ERC consolidator grant awardee. He has been recognized by multiple international awards* for his original research on the role of meniscus in osteoarthritis. *OARSI Clinical Investigator Award 2011; European League of Rheumatology Young Investigator Award 2012; and International Élise Jourdevant Prize 2018
