Dr. Schagemann is Alumni of the Westfälische Wilhelms Universität Münster/GER. He completed his Internship at the University of Copenhagen/DK and received his Medical Doctoral Degree from the Albert Ludwigs Universität Freiburg/GER. Later; Dr. Schagemann joined the Cartilage & Connective Tissue Research Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester/USA for a postdoctoral research fellowship. Currently; Dr. Schagemann is an orthopedic surgeon at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein Campus Lübeck; Clinic for Musculoskeletal Surgery; Section of Orthopedics. He has been involved in cartilage repair both clinically and scientifically since 2000. His research on cartilage repair is focusing on cartilage and cell biology; biomaterials and scaffolding techniques. As such; Dr. Schagemann is in charge of the institutional Cartilage and Bone Tissue Engineering Laboratory.
