Mary Marchant

Dr. Marchant is Professor in the Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech (VT) and former Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs in VT’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She began research on China in 2001. This research resulted in four highly competitive USDA-NIFA AFRI/NRI grants totaling over $1 million; 12 refereed journal articles; serving as guest co-editor (with Francis Tuan) of a “Special Issue: Agricultural Biotechnology in China” in AgBioForum: The Journal of Agrobiotechnology Management and Economics (2002); and, most recently, serving as coordinator of the above-mentioned special issue in Choices on “U.S. Commodity Markets Respond to Changes in China's Ag Policies,” Quarter 2 (2017).
