Great North Children's Hospital Paediatric Immunology, Infectious Diseases and AllergyHi reader! My name is Fabian van der Velden and I am currently a 2nd year PhD student at Newcastle University in the UK with Prof. Marieke Emonts.
I graduated from Medical School at the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam in the Netherlands in 2018, and worked as a resident (not in training) in general paediatrics/neonatology at the Franciscus Hospital in Schiedam/Rotterdam (large district general hospital) before relocating to the UK.
Working within the PERFORM and DIAMONDS consortia on febrile illness in children, my PhD work focuses on improving diagnostics for febrile illness in children at high-risk of serious infection.
I am funded through the EU's Horizon2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 668303 & 848196.
