Elisabeth Waldmann, MD, PhD, graduated at the Medical University of Vienna in 2012. After beginning her residency in general medicine at the St. John of God hospital, she returned to the Medical University of Vienna, where she completed her residency and fellowship for internal medicine, as well as her PhD in Public Health. 2019-2020 she was trained as postdoctoral research fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Frontier Science in Boston. Back in Vienna, she received her venia docendi in 2021. Currently, Dr. Waldmann receives her training for specialization in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Vienna.
Her clinical and research interests are the molecular pathogenesis of colorectal cancer, cancer prevention and screening programs, particularly quality assurance in screening colonoscopy. She delivered numerous oral presentations at national and international conferences and published her work in peer-reviewed scientific papers. She actively participates in national and international working groups focusing on quality assurance in cancer screening, and is co-author of guidelines addressing colonoscopy screening. Her current research focuses mainly on the immune profile of high-risk colorectal polyps in young patients.
