Immunodeficiency Service for Wales and National Allergy Service Immunodeficiency
Emily Carne is the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Lead CNS for the Immunodeficiency Service for Wales and National Allergy Service. She worked in infectious disease, wound healing, intensive care and gastroenterology before joining the clinical immunology team in 2001. In 2006 she completed an MSc in health sciences (immunology focus) and obtained an advanced nurse practitioner qualification a year later. Emily has published on different aspects of primary immunodeficiency and allergy; with a particular interest in treatment administration options focusing on quality of life, home therapy and service provision for those affected. She has held positions on the steering committee member for British Society of Immunology – CIAS, UK Primary Immunodeficiency Network, the Immunology and Allergy Nurses Group and sits on the Medical Advisory Panel for PID UK. She won the RCN Wales Clinical Nurse Specialist of the Year in 2016, Cardiff and Vale Chairs award for clinical excellence in 2015 and was the first recipient of the INGID award for worldwide services to Immunology in 2017.
