Health Economist
Judit Simon is a health economist and public health medical expert. She is Professor and Head of Health Economics and Deputy Head of the Center for Public Health at the Medical University of Vienna and leads the Health Economics Programme Line at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics (AT). She is also Visiting Professor of Cognitive Health Economics and Research Associate at the University of Oxford (UK) and Honorary Professor at the Corvinus University (HU). Previously she held positions at the LSE, UCL and University of Oxford. As her other current main functions, she is founding board member of the ISPOR Austria Chapter, sits on the advisory boards of Statistics Austria and the Austrian Public Health Institute, and is member of the Deans’ and Directors’ Board and COVID-19 Task Force of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER). She is Fellow of the UK Faculty of Public Health (FFPH) through Distinction. Her main expertise includes methodological and applied health economic evaluation research, health services and systems optimization, and evidence synthesis for decision making/clinical guidelines. Main fields of interest are mental health, public health (incl. nutrition, chronic diseases, migrant health, cancer), personalized medicine and end-of-life care.
