André Decraene is the father of a child with serious mental health issues. He has graduated in law (KUL Leuven). After a successful career in business as General Counsel Europe Middle-East and Africa for a Producer of Quality Consumer Products, and lastly as the Secretary General of a large Industry Association, he decided, with his wife and mother of his child, to devote time and efforts to promoting the existence and interest of families in Mental Health Care. Soon he joined the Flemish Family Association Similes as a board member and Vice President and was delegated to the European Federation EUFAMI of which he became a trustee and the vice-president. He also served as interim chair. As a family representative he participates in the efforts to formulate recommendations for the Public Mental Health Care services.
