D. Hidalgo-Mazzei, Spain

Diego Hidalgo-Mazzei (MD, PhD) completed his bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery with honours at the University of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Paraguay in 2007. His degree was recognised in Spain where he specialised in pychiatry at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (2010–2014). He is a psychiatrist and researcher at the Barcelona Bipolar and Depressive Disorders Unit, Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. Over the last five years, his main area of research has been the use of new technologies in affective disorders, having participated in several national and international projects concerned with developing and evaluating these tools. As a result, Dr Hidalgo-Mazzei has collaborated on and published several scientific papers in this area. His dissertation for his doctoral degree (2016) was also written on the same subject and was awarded a cum laude mention, an extraordinary doctoral award by the University of Barcelona, as well as a prize for the 2016 best doctoral dissertation by the Spanish Association of Biological Psychiatrists. His current H-index is 15. His work has received numerous national and international awards. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Affective Disorders, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, UK, where he is currently a visiting researcher.
