David McDaid is Associate Professor in Health Policy and Health Economics at the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre, Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The primary focus of his work is on using economic arguments to support investment in mental health promotion, self-harm, suicide and mental illness prevention within and beyond the health sector. He has written extensively and advised many national governments and international agencies, including the WHO and the OECD on these issues. He is involved in a number of COVID-19 related research projects including the EU Horizon 2020 RESPOND project which is analysing the response of European health systems to the pandemic.
