Prof. Dr.h.c. Axel Börsch-Supan Ph.D. is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich and professor at the Technical University of Munich. He is Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in Cambridge, Mass., USA, and Principal Investigator of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).
Börsch-Supan holds a Ph.D. in economics from MIT. He was Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University 1984-1989 and Professor for Macroeconomics and Public Policy at Mannheim University until 2011.
Börsch-Supan is member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences, corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He holds an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Rostock, Germany.
Börsch-Supan’s policy consulting includes: Council of Advisors to the German Economics Ministry, German Federal Governments’ Expert Group on Demography, German Pension Reform Commission, EU Commission, OECD, WHO, WEF, Bundesbank and World Bank.
