Institute for Evidence Based Health
With 40 years of professional experience in Portugal and the USA, António Vaz Carneiro is a Medical Doctor holding specialist degrees in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Clinical Pharmacology. He is also a Full Professor at the University of Lisbon School of Medicine (FMUL) where he directs the Center for Evidence Based Medicine, the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, the Institute for Environmental Health and the Institute for Higher Education, with several other educational and scientific responsibilities at the FMUL. He is a clinical researcher with special interest in the areas of secondary research (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), methodologies of translation of knowledge into practice, overutilization of health resources, applications of artificial intelligence in medicine and implementation of precision medicine. Prof. Vaz Carneiro is the Head of Cochrane Portugal and President of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Evidence Based Health (ISBE), a University of Lisbon partnership for clinical/epidemiological research including the Medical School, Pharmacy School, national and international researchers and private partners.
