Ana Catarina Alves is a Researcher at Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry at Universidade de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências. Since 2003 is member of the laboratory team of Mafalda Bourbon’s Group (Cardiovascular Research Group). She is also an integrated member of the Biosystems & Integrative Sciences Institute (BioISI), Biomedical and Translation Research Unit (University of Lisbon, Portugal), member of the Familial Hypercholesterolemia Variant Curation Expert Panel (biocurator) at Clinical Genome Resource (cardiovascular working group) and member of the Iberoamerican FH network. She published 37 peer review articles in international scientific journals and 2 book chapters. She supervised 4 MSc dissertations. She received 3 scientific awards and 4 prizes in congress. She is a Principal investigator in one project and is Researcher member in 8 projects. Her main field of research is genetic dyslipidaemia with a special focus on Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH), where she works with functional studies, NGS and interpret variants found in clinical FH patients and other dyslipidaemia patients. Currently, she is the project manager of the Study of rare monogenic familial dyslipidaemias at the National Institute of Health (Lisbon, Portugal).

Dr ANGELI Veronique received her PhD in 2001 from University of Lille in France. She did her post-doctoral training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York city, USA from 2002 to 2005 in the laboratory of Prof Gwendalyn Randolph before being recruited as an Instructor (2005 to 2006). In October 2006, she was recruited as assistant Professor at National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and promoted as associated professor in 2014. She is currently the leader of the Immunology Programme at Life Sciences Institute, NUS since July 2018 and the director of Immunology Translational Research programme at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS since 2020. Between 2011 and 2022, Dr Angeli was the recipient of three awards, the Faculty young investigator award, the Mochtar Riady Pinnacle Young Achiever Award and the Research Excellence award from National University of Singapore. One of her research interest focuses on lymphatic vessel biology and functions in health and diseases and promoting awareness about lymphedema and lymphatics. She is currently the vice president research of lymphedema society of Singapore (https://lymphedema.sg/). The second research interest aims at deciphering the homeostatic and pathological functions of tissue resident macrophages.

Professor Arca is head of internal Medicine and Metabolic Disease at the University Hospital Policlinico Umberto I, Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy. He received his degree in medicine in 1985, followed by a post-graduate certification in liver and metabolic diseases in 1988, both from Sapienza University of Rome. Professor Arca subsequently held fellowship positions at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas from 1989 to 1993. From 2001, he became an Associate and then full Professor of Internal Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome. Professor Arca’s research interests surround genetic and biochemical causes of atherosclerosis, with a focus on lipoprotein metabolism and inherited hyperlipidaemias. He has been involved in several clinical trials of LLTs and has served as an author on more than 250 peer-reviewed publications. His contribution to the field is underscored by his current position as President of the Italian Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis (SISA).
